To celebrate the launch of The Milapfest Institute for Indian Arts, we present a stunning international music concert by the renowned santoor maestro Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, accompanied by Kousic Sen.
The Milapfest Institute for Indian Arts, features a brand new library of books, DVDs, CDs and magazines as well as an on-line archive of live performances of music and dance stretching over the last 30 years. This will be the only such centre for general public as well and academics in the UK. The Institute is created in partnership with Liverpool Hope University, and with the support of the Liverpool City Council. The Centre will create a major new resource for Indian Arts in Britain.
Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya is a highly acclaimed Indian musician, credited with redefining how the santoor, one of India’s most beautiful instruments, is played. Tarun has mesmerised audiences globally with his soulful compositions and unique playing technique, giving his listeners what is at once an exhilarating and tranquil musical experience. The santoor is accompanied beautifully by the tabla, performed by the irrepressible Kousic Sen. Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya will present a contemporary Indian classical music concert featuring specially selected compositions.
