Krishnan and Vijayalakshmi are torch-bearers of the Lalgudi gharana, a widely respected and admired style of music characterised by its melodic and lyrical expression. In this concert, they present a violin duet celebrating their father’s gift to the world of music, and weave a richly melodious journey into the heart of Carnatic music and the famous Lalgudi gharana. They will be joined on stage by brilliant Carnatic percussionists RN Prakash and Prathap Ramachandra on mridangam and ghatam, two instruments that truly capture the rich flavour of South Indian music.“Lovely tunes strung together as a garland was a treat from the Lalgudi siblings”. The Hindu “The violin duet by Lalgudi G.J.R. Krishnan and Vijayalakshmi was testament to their guru’s ability”. The Hindu
