The Capstone Theatre

This event features a double bill performance of Indian classical music and dance

First half featuring Pandit Ranajit Sengupta

Pandit Ranajit Sengupta is widely recognised as one of the leading sarod musicians of our time. Demonstrating immense energy and skill on the sarod, a metal fretted string instrument from north India, Ranajit tours extensively around the world performing classical and cross-genre collaborations with world-class artistes and ensembles. In this concert, he will be accompanied by brilliant tabla maestro Kousic Sen.

“His style of sarod playing resembles that of Ali Akbar Khan and reminds of the lyricism so much associated with the late Ustad, once described by Yehudi Menuhin as the greatest instrumentalist of all times”. (The Hindu, India)

Second half featuring Aditi Mangaldas

Aditi Mangaldas is a leading dancer and choreographer in the classical Indian dance form of Kathak. A renowned choreographer and principle dancer of the Aditi Mangaldas Dance Company, Aditi is recognised for her artistry, technique, eloquence and characteristic energy that mark every performance.

‘Remarkable … danced to perfection.’ (The Statesman, India)
