First half featuring Mythili Prakash

Mythili Prakash is one of the world’s leading young exponents of Bharatanatyam. Her classical, yet inventive approach has allowed her to develop an exceptional style that is both distinct and accessible. As an American, Mythili brings a western approach and perspective to this ancient Indian art, making it relevant to contemporary global audiences.

Second half featuring Pandit Birju Maharaj

Pandit Birju Maharaj, affectionately known as the father of Kathak, is recognised for developing and adding a new dimension to Kathak by combining the classical dance form with dance drama and creating a new engaging style. He is the leading exponent of the Lucknow gharana, and a direct descendent of the legendary Maharaj family of Kathak dancers.

“One of the greatest Kathak dancers, as well as a creative genius”. Pt Ravi Shankar
