Arts School

Further to our two week suspension of Arts School sessions, we have now taken the decision to extend our Arts School closure until the end of May 2020. This follows the cancellation of all public events at Liverpool Hope University. It also follows UK Government information announcements yesterday, which suggest that public gatherings, social distancing and isolation will be encouraged for at least another 10-12 weeks. We want to make sure our participants, teachers, audiences and team members are safe.

Welcome to Arts School

Milapfest’s Arts School is a weekly programme of courses offered at Liverpool Hope University’s Creative Campus. There are currently seven programmes on offer, many of which are offered in a variety of levels, or are separate classes for either adults or children. The Arts School is open to students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

Courses currently available at Milapfest Arts School:

  • Bharatanatayam
  • Kathak
  • Carnatic Vocal
  • Violin
  • Hindustani Vocal
  • Tabla
  • Veena

Each course follows a syllabus and regular learning plan that had been collaboratively designed by the course teachers and Milapfest’s Education Department. The curriculum covers  practice, performance, and theory. Tutors at Arts School are all trained musicians and dancers, many of whom are performing artists in their own right. Milapfest currently offers ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance) examinations in Bharatanatyam, and has strong ties with CAT (Centre for Advanced Training) with several Arts School students now attending CAT training programmes regularly. We also offer Prayag Sangeet Samity and OFFAL examinations. Please contact our Arts School Coordinator for more details on syllabuses and examinations at

The programme runs at Liverpool Hope University at the Cornerstone Building of Liverpool Hope University’s Creative Campus. See map here.

Please see our dance timetable and music timetable for class information.
