Milapfest is proud and delighted to welcome Dr Krishna Korlipara as its patron in the year 2011 Give below his brief bio-data and achievements. We look forward to his support, help and guidance over the years to come!
Dr Krishna Korlipara
A distinguished and popular General Practitioner from 1972 till 2010 until his retirement and also Clinical Assistant in Cardiology (part time) at Wythenshawe Hospital, University of South Manchester 1977-1999, Dr Korlipara has been both a noted Community leader as well as a leader of the Medical Profession.
Pioneer and Chairman of the 1st non-profit making GP Co-operative in the UK (Bolton District Medical Services Ltd) from 1977 till 2003. As Founder/ Chairman of the National Association of GP Co-operatives, he became the leader of 300 other GP Co-ops serving a population of about 30 million people in the country. It was the biggest network of out-of-hours services set up by family doctors under his leadership from 1981 till 1999, and then he became President of the Association till 2004.
He is one of the two longest serving elected Members of the General Medical Council, having been elected five times 1984- 2008 for 24 years until retirement at the end of 2008 when he was described by the President of the GMC as the Father of the GMC.
In July 2008 he represented the GMC at the NHS 60th Anniversary celebrations held at the Westminster Cathedral attended by His Royal Highness- Prince Charles, Gordon Brown- Prime Minister, David Cameron. He also published several scientific papers in various medical journals over the last many years, based on the results of the clinical trials in which he was involved.
In 1992 he was instrumental in founding Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Manchester. He has passionately believed that the Indian cultural values which date back to nearly 10,000 years, should be preserved and promoted both among the Indians living in the UK as well as among the local population. Its rich heritage has grown stronger over many thousands of years by its willingness to assimilate many different cultures which have become part of Indian culture.
